Freedom of expression in Barnevern cases
Speech at the demonstration outside the Norwegian parliament on 16 April 2016 by Marianne H. Skanland

Freedom of speech is important and positive. This is an opinion shared by most of us. Why?

It cannot be because it’s always nice to hear people’s honest opinion. It isn’t nice, because it is so often critical.

So again: Why do we think it is important? Continue reading “Professor Marianne H. Skanland Discourse in Oslo on April 16th, 2016”

Barnevernet Resorting to Intimidation

Delight in Truth has received multiple private messages on Facebook from different persons who were targeted by Barnevernet without having done anything wrong. Some were harassed because they spoke out against the CPS on their social media accounts, others were targeted because they are a single parent, while others had their children removed for the simple fact that they themselves were raised in Barnevernet part of their life. Some of these people had their children removed temporarily, while others have yet to receive their children back. Continue reading “Barnevernet Resorting to Intimidation”

COMPLAINT AND PRAYER FOR RELIEF STATEMENT

We, the concerned citizens and residents of Seattle, Washington as well as many other communities throughout the world, have peacefully gathered on April 16, 2016, at the West Lake Center for two main reasons. First, to raise awareness of the abuse of power that Norway’s child protective service agency called Barnevernet continues to exercise. Council of Europe Commissioner Slams Norway

Norway is being squeezed from multiple angles because of their aggressive Child Protective Services: international protests, international and domestic media, European Court of Human Rights, European Parliament, multiple foreign governments and now the Council of Europe. The following is the first paragraph from today’s Dagbladet, one of the most popular Norwegian newspapers quoting the Council of Europe Human Rights Commissioner: Continue reading “Council of Europe Commissioner Slams Norway”

Bodnariu family on ‘right side of history’ as thousands of Christians protest children’s removal

harry-farley Harry Farley JUNIOR STAFF WRITER | 21 April 2016

The Christian Bodnariu family are on the “right side of history” according to a pastor who acts as their spokesman after the removal of their children by Norwegian authorities sparked a global protest movement.

The evangelical family had their five children removed by Norway’s child protection service last November. Marius, a Romanian, and Ruth, a Norwegian, were suspected of parental child abuse and religious indoctrination after one of the daughters told her headteacher that they spanked the children as a disciplinary measure. Read About Norway Stealing These Kids, Then Tout ‘Democratic Socialism’

Jayme MetzgarBy   18, 2016

Scandinavia is in vogue on the American Left. Throughout this campaign season, Bernie Sanders and his disciples have pointed to the region as a shining example of their vision for “democratic socialism.” (After all, images of quaint Nordic streets are far more appealing than disaster zones like Venezuela.) While opinions vary on just how economically socialist Scandinavia really is, its nations undoubtedly offer a far more comprehensive social safety net than the United States.

But a recent child welfare controversy in Norway shows the dark side of this utopia. When government assumes a “nanny state” responsibility for its citizens, it also tends to assume a frightening degree of control over their daily lives. The results can be devastating—and decidedly undemocratic.

Norway Is Taking Children From Their Parents and Sparking an Outcry

Protest in Oslo 16 April 2016

By John Dyer

Norwegian officials have kicked up an international controversy by taking custody of the children of an evangelical Christian family, whose defenders say they are being targeted for their religion.

The scandal involving Ruth and Marius Bodnariu and their five kids isn’t the first to hit Norway’s child protection system, the Barnevernet. Others have also charged Barnevernet bureaucrats with wrongly seizing children and discriminating against foreigners.
