Washington, D.C.
Early afternoon on the Friday of Donald Trump’s inauguration, Secret Service spokeman Nicole Mainor confirmed that an attempt was made on the new president’s life. Details are still being released to the public, but so far, sources identify the primary suspect as Thomas Bernadino, who one Fox News correspondant describes as “white, male, and clearly liberal.”
Reports of the attempt describe Bernadino shouting “Death to America!” and “Islam will rise again!” while charging at Mr. Trump with a replica bayonet rifle, pictured below. Due to the immense crowd surrounding the president, however, Bernadino was subdued by Secret Service agents securing the event before Mr. Trump was ever aware of the would-be assassin’s existence.
