Steven Bennett – SECRETS and LIES – Inside Barnevernet, Norway’s CPS

I read parts of Mr. Bennett’s comments listed here the other day. Since everything that I have learned about Norway fits these statistics, I am reposting this because I think what is written here is, unfortunately, true. I appreciate Mr. Bennett’s work on behalf of all of those who are suffering in “the most livable country on earth.” As I have learned more about the Norwegian CPS, I have begun to think that social workers have a quota, kind of like a salesman would have in a high pressure sales job. There are too many cases in all shapes and sizes, belief in God or atheism, and selection of folks in the weakest positions to defend themselves that has helped me come to this conclusion. A “slip of the tongue” by a CPS worker also led me to think this. Right or wrong on this opinion, Norway’s CPS is broken and needs fixing. Thank you rodi for posting this important statement.

The controversy surrounding this has set off a firestorm.

Scott Mason May 16, 2016 at 10:24am

On Nov. 16, the Norwegian version child protective services agency, known as Barnevernet, took two sisters, ages 8 and 10, out of school and into custody. Officials then visited the girls’ home, where they removed two of their brothers, ages 2 and 5. The next day, they came and took a fifth sibling, only 3 months old. After the Norwegian government seized five children from their family, citing the parents’ Christian beliefs, activists are fighting back to bring the kids home.

The Home School Legal Defense Association on Tuesday released a video documenting the story of the Bodnariu family, from whom five children, ranging from 3 months to 9 years in age, were taken last November.

Norwegian child services, known as Barnevernet, removed the family’s two eldest daughters from school on Nov. 16 without the parents’ knowledge, and later in the day arrived at the Bodnariu home to take two of the three sons.

John Piper is probably the most recognizable face when it comes to contemporary Evangelical theologians and preachers. He is the author of dozens of books, and the founder of Desiring God ministries. He has been following the news out of Norway with stories like the Bodnariu case. In arecent podcast on Desiring God he said:

“…we humans are not in a very good position to define what perfect love in the Creator of the universe must look like. We are too sinful, too finite, too culturally bound. Continue reading “Pastor John Piper is Following the Drama Out of Norway”

Home School Legal Defense Association Publicizes the Bodnariu Case

The Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) is an advocacy group representing 84,000 families in the US, and they did what few have done to help the Bodnariu family.

The HSLDA went to Norway at the time of the April 16th, 2016 protest to see for themselves the international drama that has painted Norway in the worst possible light. They interviewed Marius and Ruth, Ruth’s sister, and a number of other supporters at the protest in Stryn. The HSDLA is also calling for supporters to contact the Norwegian Embassy in Washington, DC to express their outrage over the confiscation of the Bodnariu children.

While most of us offered support for the Bodnariu family from far away, the HSLDA went to the tiny town in Norway where the Bodnarius live to document for the rest of us that they are a great family and they are not alone in this difficult time.
