Norwegian government seizes children, citing parents’ Christian ‘indoctrination’

After the Norwegian government seized five children from their family, citing the parents’ Christian beliefs, activists are fighting back to bring the kids home.

The Home School Legal Defense Association on Tuesday released a video documenting the story of the Bodnariu family, from whom five children, ranging from 3 months to 9 years in age, were taken last November.

Norwegian child services, known as Barnevernet, removed the family’s two eldest daughters from school on Nov. 16 without the parents’ knowledge, and later in the day arrived at the Bodnariu home to take two of the three sons.

John Piper is probably the most recognizable face when it comes to contemporary Evangelical theologians and preachers. He is the author of dozens of books, and the founder of Desiring God ministries. Home School Legal Defense Association Publicizes the Bodnariu Case

The Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) is an advocacy group representing 84,000 families in the US, and they did what few have done to help the Bodnariu family.

The HSLDA went to Norway at the time of the April 16th, 2016 protest to see for themselves the international drama that has painted Norway in the worst possible light. They interviewed Marius and Ruth, Ruth’s sister, and a number of other supporters at the protest in Stryn. The HSDLA is also calling for supporters to contact the Norwegian Embassy in Washington, DC to express their outrage over the confiscation of the Bodnariu children.

While most of us offered support for the Bodnariu family from far away, the HSLDA went to the tiny town in Norway where the Bodnarius live to document for the rest of us that they are a great family and they are not alone in this difficult time. Barnevernet Resorting to Intimidation

Delight in Truth has received multiple private messages on Facebook from different persons who were targeted by Barnevernet without having done anything wrong. Some were harassed because they spoke out against the CPS on their social media accounts, others were targeted because they are a single parent, while others had their children removed for the simple fact that they themselves were raised in Barnevernet part of their life. Hundreds rally in Phoenix for Norwegian family

Hundreds gathered Saturday (April, 16) for a rally in Phoenix supporting a Romanian-Norwegian couple half a world away who are trying to reunite with their five children.

Chants and prayers in both English and Romanian echoed through the streets of downtown Phoenix as a crowd of protesters descended upon Cesar Chavez Plaza. The demonstration began at the steps of Maricopa County Superior Court and continued with a march down Jefferson, Third and Washington streets. Press Release from Barnevernet Boss: Will Review Cases

Solveig Horne, the politician in charge of Barnevernet put out a press release today in response to the demonstrations held against her CPS on April 16th, 2016

In a Facebook post she wrote: “We take criticism towards child welfare seriously and give the Board of Health now the mission to go through a selection of issues in child welfare”

Norway Is Taking Children From Their Parents and Sparking an Outcry

Norwegian officials have kicked up an international controversy by taking custody of the children of an evangelical Christian family, whose defenders say they are being targeted for their religion.

The scandal involving Ruth and Marius Bodnariu and their five kids isn’t the first to hit Norway’s child protection system, the Barnevernet. Others have also charged Barnevernet bureaucrats with wrongly seizing children and discriminating against foreigners. PHOENIX (KPHO/KTVK) – Thousands marched outside the Arizona Superior Court building in central Phoenix on Saturday to protest the actions of Norwegian Child Protection Services, which forcibly removed five children from their parents last year in Norway.

The Bodnariu family is originally from Romania and they are evangelical Christians. Norway’s Child Protection Services, known as Barnevernet, removed the children from their home after determining that the parents were “indoctrinating” the children with allegedly radical beliefs.
